This afternoon I've been on a hawk walk, but it was so much more than that. As soon as I got there I was given a bird, Diamond, to hold and walk with until we reached a safe place to untether her. There were 2 birds in total, Jess and Diamond. It was such an amazing experience to watch them fly. Especially them flying towards you to get their treat and landing on your hand.
If you like birds of prey then this is for you. Mark, who runs the hawk walk, is very knowledgeable and friendly and really wants you to enjoy your time with the birds. I lost count of how many times one of the birds flew towards me and landed on my hand to get their treat. At one point Diamond came for her treat and just stayed on my hand whilst I walked with her and I didn't have hold of her jesses so she could have flown off whenever she felt like. I even managed to get a selfie with her!
